Escort Scams in GreeceHow to Spot Fake Profiles and Protect Yourself

Fake profiles exist on every escort directory. Here is how the most common tricks work, which warning signs give them away and what to do if you have already been contacted.

Why Fake Escort Profiles Exist

A fake escort profile is not about meeting anyone. It is bait. The goal is to make you pay money in advance, to collect material for blackmail or to get your card details — and then disappear.

Most of these scams are run from abroad by people who have never been to Greece. They copy photos from other websites, invent a name and a city, and move the conversation away from the directory as fast as possible, usually to Telegram, where they stay anonymous and can delete messages.

The good news: these scams follow a small number of patterns. Once you know them, they are easy to recognise.

Scam 1: The Deposit Request

This is by far the most common trick. You make contact, the conversation is friendly and quick, and then comes the request: a "deposit for safety", a "booking fee" or "taxi money" — paid in advance by gift card, cryptocurrency, Revolut, Western Union or a bank transfer abroad.

Once you pay, a second request usually follows: a "refundable security deposit", a "hotel fee" or a fine because you were "late". The woman never appears. Every payment is lost.

Rule of thumb

An independent escort who is really in your city does not need your money before she has met you. Any request for prepayment by gift card or crypto is a scam — without exception.

Scam 2: Blackmail and Sextortion

Here the goal is information about you. You are asked for photos, your full name, your workplace or a "verification" with your ID. Sometimes a video call is recorded without your knowledge.

A few days later the threat arrives: pay, or the material goes to your partner, your employer or your social media contacts. The demands rarely stop after the first payment.

Warning Signs of a Fake Profile

Each sign alone can have a harmless explanation. Several together are a strong signal:

1

Contact only via Telegram — no phone call, no normal phone number.

2

A phone number from a different continent than the city in the profile, combined with other signs below.

3

A name that is not a name: random letters, or the same woman appears under several names.

4

Details that change between profiles: height, weight, hair colour, nationality or city.

5

Photos that look like a professional photo shoot or appear on other websites (check with a reverse image search).

6

Pressure and urgency: "only available today", "pay now or I give the slot to someone else".

7

A request for money, gift cards or crypto before the meeting.

8

Refusal of a short phone or video call before meeting.

How to Check Before You Meet

A few minutes of checking protects you from almost every scam:

1

Call the number. A real person in Greece will answer or call back; a scammer will insist on chat only.

2

Do a reverse image search of one profile photo (Google Lens or TinEye). Photos stolen from other sites show up immediately.

3

Ask for a short video call or a voice message with today's date. Real women understand — scammers make excuses.

4

Agree to pay only in person, at the meeting. Never in advance, never by gift card or crypto.

5

Do not send photos of yourself, your full name, your workplace or documents.

6

Meet in a place you choose or in a hotel with a reception — never somewhere you are not comfortable with.

What to Do If You Have Been Targeted

Stop all contact and do not pay anything more. With blackmail in particular, paying almost never ends the demands — it shows that you can be pressured.

Keep the evidence: screenshots of the chat, the profile, the usernames and any payment receipts. Then block the contact.

In Greece you can report online fraud and blackmail to the Hellenic Police Cyber Crime Division (Διεύθυνση Δίωξης Ηλεκτρονικού Εγκλήματος) by calling 11188 or via cyberalert.gr. If you paid by card or bank transfer, contact your bank immediately — a fast report sometimes allows the payment to be stopped.

If you found the profile on Escort Ellada, tell us via our contact page. We check the account and take the profile offline.

What Escort Ellada Does Against Fake Profiles

Every profile is checked by hand before it goes online. The phone number has to be confirmed with a code sent by SMS, so nobody can advertise with a number that is not theirs.

We look for accounts that create several profiles with changing details or that share a phone number with other profiles. Suspicious profiles are taken offline until the person proves who she is.

No check can rule out every fake. That is why your own caution — and the rule never to pay in advance — matters most.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it normal for an escort to ask for a deposit?

Not by gift card, crypto or a transfer abroad. Independent escorts who are really in your city are paid in person. A prepayment request through anonymous channels is the most common scam.

Does a foreign phone number mean the profile is fake?

No. Many women travel and keep their number from home. A foreign number becomes a warning sign only together with others — contact via Telegram only, changing details, requests for money.

Why do scammers prefer Telegram?

On Telegram they can stay anonymous without a real phone number and delete messages for both sides. Insist on a normal phone call before you meet.

What should I do if someone threatens to publish my photos?

Do not pay, keep screenshots, block the contact and report it to the Cyber Crime Division (11188). Paying rarely ends the threats.

Does Escort Ellada ever ask visitors for money?

No. Browsing Escort Ellada is free. We never contact visitors to ask for payment, verification fees or card details.

How do I report a suspicious profile?

Use the contact page and include the name of the profile. We check it, and if the suspicion is confirmed the profile is taken offline.

Summary

Fake escort profiles want your money, your data or material for blackmail. Their tricks are always similar: contact only via Telegram, pressure, and a request for prepayment by gift card or crypto.

Call before you meet, check the photos, pay only in person and never send personal data. With these habits, scammers have no chance.
